Built Your Mobile App? Now What? Time to Market It

Be sure you market that app you worked so hard to create

There are so many ways a business can reach its customers these days.  One of the best ways is going to be through a mobile app. This is simply because users are ALWAYS on their phones!  If you’re looking for some tips on how to make the absolute most out of your app’s potential, the key thing to focus on is…..marketing!

Here are some tips to help you make just the right splash in the mobile app world.

Why do I need an app?

Back in the day, it was just a website, and then mobile responsive and now it’s both! So don’t get confused with the difference between a mobile responsive website and a mobile app.  But now you really should have an app for your business or brand.  Since most people shop and interact completely from their phones, purpose-built apps make that easier and much more user-friendly for the shopper.  When it comes to customer satisfaction and loyalty, that’s a huge deal and it’s not going to change any time soon.

Know who you’re marketing forAfter building your app, next is to market it

You can’t market your awesome mobile app if you don’t know who you’re trying to reach, right?  Hello, marketing research!  Get a feel for your target audience, follow your followers or target market, and then get familiar with how to reach them with wording, emojis, and all of the other methods of conversation that THEY use.

Take a look at the competition

Both for marketing research and just research in general, you’ll want to take a look at the competition out there!  After all, the marketplace for apps has been around for 10 years, so there’s bound to be someone out there that’s already thought of the same app that you’re looking to create and publish.

That doesn’t mean that you have to close up shop, though.  Just focus on learning from their strengths and weaknesses so that your idea is better and your app is better.

Blog and promote and advertise on social media

The next step would be to make sure that the people know you’ve got an app coming.  From your blog to your website to your social media outlets, get the word out about it and make sure you are posting engaging content that really has them counting down the days until it goes live.  When you build excitement, it transfers to downloads!

Consider a demo video as a preview

Whether it’s part of the marketing ahead of time or done after the app is already published, you may also want to consider a few demo videos!  Since customers love video as a general medium, many are more likely to watch a video of someone using the app.  Ideally, do a demo video for all of the different features of the app, and make sure you regularly update it so that it’s up to date with your latest bug fixes or cosmetic changes.

Without question, a mobile app is going to help you get people to pay attention to your brand and also keep you in the marketplace.  Making sure that you are marketing your app properly will be crucial to determining its success, too.  After that, it’s all up to the customer to decide whether you make it to their downloads page!
